Character of a Conqueror

May the Lord Cause you to Increase and Abound in Love
1st Thessalonians 1-13 Key Verses (v.12-13)
  • Increase means 'to add to'.
  • Abound means 'to overflow'.
  • Love means 'to serve with humility'.
We need to love with humility so that, according to the text, we can be blameless. Notice it doesn't say 'sinless'. There is a huge difference between being 'sinless' and being 'blameless'. Being sinless is impossible but being blameless is possible! Blameless means 'intentionally living in obedience to God’s Word' and holiness is 'being separated unto God'.

The good news is that a pure love brings a pure life!

CHALLENGE: Everyday to look for people who you can love (serve with humilty)

  2. What a message! We need to let our LOVE overflow into others lives! We cannot operate with a half full cup! I loved the illustration that Pastor Kevin used with the water pored into a glass and when he started pouring it into peoples hands to show how our love for others should be demonstrated. We cannot be satisfied with the Love we have shown, we must challenge ourselves to go to the next Level.

Jesus Help me show your love this week in everything i do and may many be affected by this! In Jesus name AMEN!!!!

  7. What amazing Pastors we have. This is both an awesome and challenging word together. The world needs to see our love overflow, but the enemy is always bringing distractions. We need to mature and overlook our current problems and pride to live a lifestyle of love. Man, what a challenging year. If you really wanna grow, HWC is definetely the place to be.

  8. Thank God for Pastor Kevin Begley who can open up that word and dish out some real meat! Love here in this text means to "serve others". Isn't it so true how we can sometimes love only the ones we like or those we can benefit from being their friend. But God wants us to serve ALL! Amen to that!

  9. As Pastor Kevin reminded us, we can't wait until everything is perfect in our life to start loving others by serving with humility. There is never a time when everything in our life is going be perfect - we will all experience challenges in one area or another. The point is, the time to start is NOW! Love now. Serve now. Give now. Do it with heart and increase in it. What a timely reminder! Thank you Jesus!
I take the challenge this week onwards to aggressively love others with what I have.

  11. I appreciate having a pastor and a co-pastor, who stand as equals, seeking God's will and direction. The way that they speak WHOLE TRUTH direct from the scriptures and clearly show us the relevancy of such in my life, makes a true and tangible difference. I am challenged to grow and become a better person. This Sunday I was specifically struck by the definition of "blameless" meaning "Intentionally living in obedience to God’s Word". The word intentionally... "done by intention or design" has deep implications and is tremendously freeing if one understands that, as Pastor has stated before "My success is my choice and my choice is my success". I must choose the intent of my actions. Until next time, peace be with you. :)
